Chinese Man - Racing with the Sun

I’ve been waiting for more than 3 months now and it’s finally here. Chinese Man new album ‘Racing With The Sun’. I wonder if my patience paid off…

The first time I listened to the album I randomly cruised trough it and I have to admit I was slightly disappointed. Don’t get me wrong, my expectations were very high. However, I then listened to the album step by step in the right order and… AOUCH my opinion went from “Nice Album” to “What the fuck did I just listened to”. GENIUS

Samples of movies, ethnic sounds, some rare forgotten instruments… mixed together with their Hip-Hop, Trip-Hop, Beatfunk influences you’ll get a ‘voyage’ going from western cowboys sounds to modern asian hip-hop. ‘Racing with the Sun’ is both smart and easy, you could concentrate on every sound, structure,… or simply listen to it the old way.

Selecting a track from the album sure wasn’t easy as it would be difficult to judge a whole movie from one fragment. Anyway, ‘Racing With The Sun’ should describe the ambiance of the album, and if you’re not convinced make a stop here and there.

Can’t wait to be the 21st of May to see them live in Brussels.
